Discoveries Vol. 14 Issue 2-Kendall Crouther photoLast spring, Herff Jones put out a call for rising leaders on yearbook staffs who would be attending the JEA/NSPA convention in Phoenix in April. Advisers nominated students for participation and applications were completed. That being said, it’s no surprise that Kendall Crouther participated in the Yerds think tank Herff Jones held at the annual convention.

Kendall is involved in LOTS of things and she’s happiest when she’s busy. In addition to serving as managing editor of the award-winning Odyssey at Chantilly High school (VA) HS, she’s in FCA, Model UN and Christians in Action. She’s a Girl Scout who’s won Gold, Silver and Bronze awards. She’s a Boy Scout-Girl Scouts don’t offer extreme sports. She’s uber-involved at her church. Oh, and she’s a pretty serious pianist as well. She’s been playing 11 years.

Here summer schedule was predictable: she worked with Habitat for Humanity, got started on college applications, babysat and went to yearbook camp for the second year. Next year, she’s love to be a DA.

She’s thinking about Journalism and she’s interested in International Relations and Psychology. She likes UVA and American University, plus she’s considering a couple of Midwestern schools with well-known J-schools and a family legacy.

In the meantime, she’s got plenty to do at Chantilly; the 45-member staff is en route to a 400-pag tome and even with four major editors, there’s’ more than enough work to go around. “I’m glad to have the ability to make an impact,” she said, “and I love the people on our staff. They are my other family!”

The Yerds are passionate about yearbook and more. Kendall and her Yerdly cohorts will continue to act as a sounding board for Herff Jones throughout the school year.
