How do I print my Adobe® InDesign® pages at 71%?

When submitting your pages to the plant, make sure you include a 71% printout of your pages. At 71%, all the page elements will appear on your printout.

An easy way to ensure that all your pages print at 71% is to create Print Presets. Make sure presets are created on each computer that you will use for printing.

To create a Print Preset

  • Open your HJ Template
  • Go to File > Print Presets > Define.
  • Choose New to create a new set of printing options.

 New print preset

  • General tab
    • Name:
      • Use a descriptive name such as Yearbook Page printer or Computer Lab printer
    • Printer:
      • Choose your printer
    • PPD:
      • Make sure the PPD matches the printer you are using
  • Setup tab:
    • Change the Scale: to Width: 71% x Height: 71%
    • Change the Page Position: to Centered
    • Keep the Constrain Proportions box checked
  • Click OK to save the preset.

Set up preset

  • If you print to more than one printer, set Print Presets for each one.

To print

  • Go to File > Print Presets
  • Choose one of your presets
