Follow these examples to create graphic effects using Adobe® PageMaker®

Raised initials
Simply change the point size of the letter and maintain the leading size of the rest of the paragraph. The paragraph leading method may be Proportional or Baseline, but not Top of caps.

Skewed text
Create your text normally; select it with your pointer tool and then contour it to create unique effects. Using the pointer tool, divide one text block into two even text blocks. In the Skew area of the Control Palette, skew the first text block at 30°. While the first text block is still selected, move a horizontal ruler guide onto the lower handle bar line. Move the second text block up to meet the guide. Skew the second text at -30°.

Skew and rotate
Type your text and divide it into two columns. Apply right justification to the left column. Select the left column with the pointer tool. Apply a 40° skew and a 40° rotation.

Apply left justification to the right column. Select the right column with the pointer tool. Apply a -40° skew and a -40° rotation. Align the columns with a one pica margin.

Sloped text
Sloped text is very easy. This headline was created by using successively smaller letters. Each letter is a text block by itself. A text wrap box is set over the headline giving the paragraph under it the same sloping effect.

Shadowed text
This headline has been set in 24 point Times. The shadow effect is in 48 point Times, 30% black, width set to 45%, and a 40° skew applied. The shadow was moved into position and sent to the back.

Mirrored text
The mirrored headline has been set in 24 point Times. The mirrored effect has a 30% black tint.

To create this effect, type your text and then copy it. Power Paste it on top (Windows: Ctrl+Alt+V; Mac: Command+Option+V). Click the bottom right button on the Control palette. Move the text down with the arrow keys so the bottoms of both text blocks touch. Select both text blocks and group them. You can do this horizontally or vertically.

Zoom text
Zoom text can be achieved by pasting a headline with a slight offset four different times. Each layer is then shaded: 80%, 50%, 30% and 20%.
