Macintosh® and Windows® based computers store fonts in different locations. Look below for your operating system and the location where the fonts usually are found. (It is possible your system may be different.)

Macintosh®

  • OS 7.1 - 9.2 & Classic
    • Fonts are located on the hard drive in the System Folder in the Fonts folder. If you are using font management software, your fonts could be stored elsewhere.
  • OS X
    • Fonts available to any user  are located on the hard drive in the Library in the Fonts folder.
(Hard drive > Library > Fonts)
    • Fonts available only to the logged in user are located on the hard drive in the User folder in the (User name) folder in the Library in the Fonts folder.
(Hard drive > User > (User name) > Library > Fonts)

Windows®
Fonts are found in different locations depending on your version of Windows.

  • Windows® XP, Vista & 7
    • Fonts are found in the Windows/Fonts directory.
  • Windows® 2000
    • Fonts are found in the WINNT/Fonts directory.
    • If ATM is installed:
      • TrueType fonts are found in the WINNT directory in the Fonts directory.
      • PostScript fonts are found in the psfonts directory. The .pfb file will be in the psfonts directory while the .pfm file will be in a subdirectory of the psfonts directory called pfm.
  • Windows® 95 & 98
    • With ATM is installed:
      • TrueType fonts are found in the Windows/Fonts directory.
      • PostScript fonts are found in the psfonts directory. The .pfb file will be in the psfonts directory while the .pfm file will be in a subdirectory of the psfonts directory called pfm.

The files found in these directories must be copied to your disk and submitted with your pages.
