While the lone asterisk on The Buzzer’s front flap foreshadows details yet to be added to the story of the year, the endsheet’s sprinkled pattern is likely more realistic as there are so many additional details available. Continued inside as a border for photos and a texture enhancing UV-coated photos in several ways, the asterisk’s power is obvious. The opening features photos most schools could only wish for and is followed by a divider that gives the theme symbol more meaning. In addition to bordering a photo bar representing the section, reversed asterisks direct readers to specific coverage inside the section, and the copy is written to reinforce the asterisk’s power as well. Content pages showcase layers of coverage, some tied conceptually to the asterisk, and each folio adds a small photo to the mix. True to concept, each section ends with a divider as well. The photo bar has changed position and the reversed asterisks are designed to send readers back into the section before they move on to ensuing dividers and the rest of the book.
